Students of all fields of study at the University of Ljubljana are invited to apply for the Innovation Challenges event, which will take place from April 15th to 19th, 2024, at Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. The event will be held in the form of a hackathon, involving local and national companies as well as companies from the Cluj-Napoca region. Theevent will focus on addressing topics of sustainability and circular economy models, online security, artificial intelligence, and healthcare economics. Prior knowledge or experience in a specific topic or sector is not required.

Participation in the event is free, and transportation and accommodation expenses will be covered for eight selected students. Don't miss the opportunity to realize your ideas, explore innovative opportunities, and connect with students from ten EUTOPIA universities!

Summer School: Digital Health Technologies: Law, Ethics & Regulatory Issues

 

In the dynamic landscape of contemporary healthcare, the intersection of technology, law, ethics, and regulation has become a focal point for critical discourse. As we stand on the precipice of unprecedented advancements in health technologies, the need for a comprehensive understanding of the legal, ethical, and regulatory frameworks governing these innovations has become more relevant than ever.

The Summer School on "Digital Health Technologies: Law, Ethics & Regulatory Issues" is a collaboration between the Health and Ageing Law Lab of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and the Else Kröner Fresenius Center for Digital Health of the Technische Universität Dresden. It aims to bring together legal scholars, practitioners, policymakers, and industry experts to delve into the multifaceted challenges and opportunities presented by the rapid evolution of health technologies.

The first edition of the Summer School on digital health technologies will take place in Brussels, at the , from 3 to 7 June 2024. Participants who attend all lectures and pass the assessment will receive a certificate of participation and be rewarded with 4 ECTS credits.

The program consists of eight modules in total:

1. Innovative use of AI in health-related technology

2. AI & Medical Devices

3. How might Large Language Models be used in Medical Devices

4. Health Data Governance (including EHDS)

5. Health Sensors, wearables and biomarkers

6. Design thinking and medical device development

7. Health data and IP

8. Patient and Healthcare Provider Perspective

Summer School – Barcelona International Summer School 2024

The Barcelona International Summer School is UPF’s in-person flagship summer program for undergraduates where academic excellence meets cross-disciplinary exploration in the heart of Barcelona.

Choose from a list of 35 credit-bearing courses offered in English or Spanish and taught by an interdisciplinary faculty of renowned academics. Our modules vary in duration and intensity, allowing for flexible combinations spanning one to four weeks. Social activities are also included in the tuition fees.

Students of the University of Ljubljana (1st or 2nd cycle) are invited to participate in the EUTOPIA Ideas Club debate event, where you will discuss climate change and its solutions with fellow students from ten partner universities. The Ideas Club will take place on 23 April 2024 at Ca’ Foscari University in Venice.

Eutopia Teamwork 2024: Apply for an international summer internship

We invite you to apply for the Teamwork virtual international summer internship.

In a multidisciplinary team of up to eight students from EUTOPIA universities, you will have the opportunity to spend four weeks during the summer months in a paid part-time summer internship on a project of the organisation. The projects will be carried out by organisations from different industries around the world, so the tasks or challenges will be wide and varied. To prepare, selected students attend a series of induction workshops to develop employability skills and get to know their team, and a mentor from the organisation is available throughout the programme.

By joining TeamWork 2024, you can improve your employability, gain valuable international experience, enhance your CV and expand your professional network, as well as improve your self-confidence and intercultural understanding, and develop other skills such as communication, teamwork and problem-solving.

Applications are open to 1st and 2nd cycle students of all study programmes. The deadline for applications is 25 March 2024.

EUTOPIA Languages Week

This one-week inter-university event focusing on languages, culture and diversity is a collaboration between two EUTOPIA Learning Communities, 'Multilingualism and diversity', led by the University of Warwick, and 'Text and Discourse Analysis', led by the University of Ljubljana. This year, seven EUTOPIA universities are participating in Languages Week.

The second EUTOPIA Languages Week will take place from 4 to 8 March 2024.

You can join the activities during this week online or in person. Each institution will host a variety of film screenings, language tastings, roundtables, workshops and many other activities related to languages, multilingualism, translation and culture. At the University of Ljubljana, we organise the Language Café, an online chat room for students from different universities in five languages: English, German, French, Spanish and Italian. Do you have an idea for a research project? Would you like to research abroad? Don't hesitate, apply for ŠIRP!

We are excited to announce that we have launched a call for international Student Individual Research Projects (ŠIRP) with financial support for mobility for the academic year 2023/2024. The call is coordinated by the University Office for International Cooperation with the assistance of the University Office for Students and Alumni.

The call, open until funds are exhausted or no later than July 28, 2024, welcomes applications from first and second-cycle students interested in preparing and conducting an individual research project at one of the EUTOPIA alliance member institutions. In addition to project preparation, which includes student research work with two mentors (review, analysis, and comparison of literature, review of methodologies and interdisciplinary approaches, work on a seminar, thesis, or article, etc.), the project must also include a proposed mobility plan to the host university (added value of the visit to the proposed university, library and laboratory/research group visits, and other activities supporting the international student project).

Projects will be fully funded from the Development Pillar of funding. One of the highlights of the call is the possibility of funding virtual mobility, available to students with special status.

Students will enter personal information (name, address, bank account, faculty, etc.) into the application form and attach the following documents (in the appendix):

The student fills out the forms in English together with the mentors.

Applications are open from February 6, 2024, until funds are exhausted or no later than July 28, 2024. Mobility must be completed by September 30, 2024. Applications are accepted through the form, accessible with your UL digital identity.

Summer School - Enrol for the University of Warwick Summer School

The University of Warwick will be hosting a Summer School from 14 July to 3 August 2024, offering a range of courses in economics and business, science and social sciences.

The Summer School is open to undergraduate and postgraduate students from all over the world. More information is available on the website.


The EUTOPIA Learning Community, ‘Global Connections’ will be hosting another learning opportunity for students interested in building working relationships across borders; engaging in intercultural discussions on environmental issues; and becoming part of a multidisciplinary research team. Together, you will critically explore how nations/regions of the world tackle contemporary environmental issues, and investigate the extent to which these strategies ‘translate’ across borders and academic disciplines. You will have four weeks to create an artefact together in the format of your choice, based on your research.

Please note, participating students need to be available to attend two 1-hour online sessions: one on 12 February at 16:00 CET and one on 11 March at 16:00 CET. Your participation will result in an international certificate issued by EUTOPIA.

Connected Communities - Connected Learning Community Epistemology of Everyday Life – Student Open Forum

The Department of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology at the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana and the learning community Epistemology of Everyday Life invite you to the third Student Open Forum. The learning community, in collaboration with partners from the Vrije University in Brussels (Belgium) and Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona (Spain), is in its third year of developing a dynamic community of professors and students. They conclude their annual activities within the learning community with a hybrid student forum, where students present their research work.

At this year's forum, discussions will revolve around the potential extinction of the Slovenian language, understanding asylum seekers in Switzerland, the processes of integrating Roma into the Portuguese educational system, fieldwork in Ljubljana's Zelena Jama, Asian architecture, the experience of life in Brazil, environmental issues related to the use of wind turbines in Azerbaijan, and the future of anthropology.

Sciences Po Saint-Germain-en-Laye Summer School 2024

Sciences Po Saint-Germain-en-Laye is pleased to announce that it will organise its first summer school entitled "Culture and Politics in Contemporary France" from June 3rd to June 14th, 2024. Fully taught in English, the summer school will offer students a stimulating learning environment exploring the linkages between culture and politics. Additionally, cultural and social activities will be offered to the participants (visit of museums and exhibitions, performances in Paris). For the time of the summer school, it provides accommodation in a nearby student residence at a special rate.

CY Tech Summer School 2024

CY Tech is offering a 3-week program in English in Cergy, France. This program is open to undergraduate (18 years of age as a minimum criterion) and graduate Engineering students; native and non-native English speakers (proficiency level: IELTS 6.0 or equivalent). Applicants with relevant knowledge in Engineering-oriented subjects. Courses will be held from June 1st to July 19th, 2024.

Gothenburg University Summer School 2024

Join the international Summer School for Sustainability of the University of Gothenburg that will run from June 27th to August 2nd, 2024! This programme is a chance to take action on sustainability and deepen your understanding of global challenges and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Students will be able to choose one of five courses in the areas of education, politics, biology, digitalisation, or the humanities. All courses are given at the bachelor's level and taught in English, are valid for 7,5 credits (ECTS) and combine workshops and seminars. All of this is on campus in Gothenburg, the thriving innovation and cultural hub on the west coast of Sweden that has been appointed the most sustainable city in the world for seven years in a row.

For students seeking a comprehensive overview of EU climate and energy policy, this course series provides an ideal starting point, but it can also serve as teaching material for professors. International Conference for Undergraduate Research - ICUR 2024 

The International Conference for Undergraduate Research (ICUR) is an annual, two-day academic conference that showcases excellence in undergraduate research worldwide. Students present their research in real-time, video-linked sessions from their home institutions.

The University of Ljubljana and EUTOPIA Alliance invite students from all disciplines to present their award-winning undergraduate work to students from different parts of the world. The international online conference, hosted by the University of Warwick, will take place on 26 and 27 June in several countries and continents simultaneously.

Preference will be given to Prešeren’s Prize winners who have received the prize during or at the end of undergraduate study.

The deadline for abstract submission is 1 March.
